Pink Lady

Has this quarantined turned anyone else into a bartender? Up until now our cocktail shaker was purely decorative, but since we can’t run into the city for cocktails or dinner for the foreseeable future, we’ve started upping our cocktail game at home.

I had this drink for the first time on a girl’s trip to NYC at the Gin Parlor and have looked for it on every cocktail menu since. I’ve tried multiple recipes, some call for apple brandy, some have cream, but for me the simplest recipe was by far the best and the easiest to tweak.

I love a cocktail with egg whites in them, and I recently learned that the acid in the citrus actually cooks the egg white. Mind blown. So, if you aren’t getting enough froth, add a little more lemon juice – don’t kill yourself trying to shake harder…

Easy to make (and even easier to drink) this classic ‘Pink Lady’ is my cocktail hour favorite. Don’t let the pink hue fool you, Josh loves them too. Let me know what you think! Cheers y’all!

P.S. If your pets are home, you’re never drinking alone.

Description

This classic ‘Pink Lady’ is a variant on the Gin Fizz, sweetened with grenadine to give it a pink hue. A cocktail hour favorite!

Ingredients

Scale

50ml (2 fl oz) Gin
30ml (1 fl oz) Fresh Lemon Juice
5-10ml (¼ fl oz) Grenadine
1 Egg White

Instructions

Shake all the ingredients for at least 10 seconds without ice (this creates the froth).

Add ice to shaker and shake for a second time.

Strain into a chilled coupe.
